About Our Area

Weakley County Schools is home to 10 schools in Northwest Tennessee. Our nearly 600 innovative faculty and staff serve the towns and surrounding areas of Dresden, Gleason, Greenfield, Martin, and Sharon. We serve nearly 4,000 students in local community public schools. Our faculty to student ratio is 1:19. We are the largest school system in northwest Tennessee and the second largest employer in the county.

Weakley County Schools is unique in its inclusive representation. Unlike school districts with exclusions for special schools, magnet schools, and charter schools, all of our district's public schools are taxpayer owned as part of Weakley County's fiscal year budget. Because of this important distinction, our district is a true reflection of the wonderful communities, caring families, brilliant educators, and hardworking students who live and work in our special county.

Our schools include
Dresden Elementary School (PreK-4), Dresden Middle (5th-8th), Dresden High (9th-12th), Gleason School (PreK-12th), Greenfield School (PreK-12th), Martin Primary (PreK-2nd), Martin Elementary (3rd-5th), Martin Middle (6th-8th), Sharon School (PreK-8th), and Westview High School (9th-12th).

The Mission of Weakley County Schools is to grow the whole child through quality instruction in a safe environment that encourages student ownership of learning and the pursuit of purpose.

What We Believe

We believe that...

► ... all children can learn, should begin school ready to learn, and continue to learn throughout their lives.
► ... all children benefit when the focus of the learning process is on student achievement with high expectations and parents, educators, and members of the community collaborate in the learning process.
► ... all children deserve highly qualified administrators, teachers, and support staff that use research-based practices and strategies that provide clear direction; and all children benefit when curriculum and instruction are properly aligned, research-based, and data-driven and technology is used to enhance the learning process.
► ... all children deserve a safe, positive, and physically comfortable school environment to promote learning and all children gain when mutual respect and integrity are displayed among students and members of the educational community as they engage in adequate and appropriate internal and external communication.
